Positive Parenting

My child doesn't listen to me
I don't like my child's behaviour
I'm not enjoying being a parent
My child doesn't like me
Parenting can be challenging. We want the best for our children but how do we know what that is? It can leave us feeling frustrated, worried and inadequate.

I'm not good at parenting
Many parents have these difficult thoughts at times. But if they happen too often they can make us doubt ourselves and lose confidence in our ability to be the parent we want to be.
At Maternal Mind we specialise in promoting positive parenting through personalised video feedback. By using videos of you and your child together, we help you gain insights into your child's behaviours to better understand their emotions. Our VIPP programme focuses on enhancing your parenting skills and strengthening the bond between you and your child. Experience the power of video interaction for a more connected and harmonious relationship with your little one.
Video Intervention to promote Positive Parenting (VIPP)
Recommended in the NICE guidelines to support attachment between parent and child, VIPP is a highly evidenced therapeutic technique that increases understanding and strengthens the relationship between parent and child. This video from the Tavistock and Portman explains how it works for parents.
For children aged 6 months to 5 years old.

What's involved?
There are 6 home visits where videos are taken of you and your child carrying out specific activities. For example, during one visit meal-time is recorded, during others I will bring toys for your child to play with and tidy up.
Between each visit we have a video call during which I show you all the recordings from the previous visit and talk through what we can observe.
After the final visit you will receive all the recordings on a memory stick and a booklet with key tips for supporting your child's development and nurturing your relationship and understanding.
“I started to see the world through my daughter's eyes by understanding what is important for her and her development. The sessions completely changed the way I see my daughter and how I respond to her. We finally get each other.”
